Each quarter, SoftPro sponsors Trendsetters by October Research. This series focuses on professionals in the title insurance industry who have made significant impact and emerged as leaders, demonstrating their passion for the industry in everything they do professionally.
This quarter, Trendsetters features Laura Perry, owner and CEO of Homeland Title.
When you read the full Trendsetters report, you'll learn how Laura, after leaving her job as an insurance defense lawyer in small-town Appalachia, decided to start a title company in order to have better work-life balance while raising her two young sons. Though her lack of experience in the title industry made for challenging beginnings, she was able to land on her feet thanks to a strategic partnership with title attorney Mary Frances Rudy. The two worked together for eight years, and Laura went solo again in 2011, just as business began to boom after the Great Recession. Laura took this opportunity to focus on creating a more mature company and leaning into her position as a business owner and community member.
