California
- CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) - August 14, 2020: California Attorney General announced that the California Office of Administrative Law (OAL) approved the final regulations issued under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) and filed them with the California Secretary of State. - Bill AB-1864 - September 25, 2020: Governor Approved Bill AB-1864. This bill would rename the "Department of Business Oversight" as the "Department of Financial Protection and Innovation." The bill also includes updates to new regulatory powers to protect consumers. Additional information can be found on the DFPI website.
Maryland
- Bill #20-03 - October 1, 2020: On behalf of the Frederick County's agricultural land preservation initiative, the Fredrick County Council recently enacted Bill #20-03, which raises the recordation tax rate by $1.00 from $6.00 to $7.00 per $500 of consideration. This new recordation tax rate will take effect on October 1, 2020, per Frederick County Code §1-8-51.
